Hi there!   Well Romke I don't seem to have any success posting to this forum unless it is replying to one of yours, so here goes!!!    (some of it will be a bit repetitive but hey, we can read it again, can't we!!)

Update as at 12h30 21/7/2004:

The team has set up base camp at 4,900m on the Vigne Glacier (see map that Romke has posted - thanks!) All loads have been moved to a cache below the icefall, at 5200m.  Today (21st) they were to establish a route through the icefall  and have selected a site for Advanced Base Camp below a rock spur to north of Plateau.   Everyone is well . . .

As you know it was Harry's birthday and they celebrated with lots of pasta, birthday and 34 candles!!!

Note from JP:

This birthday must surely have been celebrated in one of the most beautiful places on planet Earth!    Concordia - the so-called "throne room of the mountain gods", is a spectacular junction of the Godwin Austin, Abruzzi and Baltoro Glaciers.   This is where the team set up camp last week after having come up via the Baltoro Glacier (again, see map for reference points).   At Concordia the high mountain scenery is striking:  the impressive Baltoro Glacier glaciated wilderness and all around, countless high snowcapped peaks including Hidden Peak, Gasherbrum II, Broad Pak and K2 . . . .   Mmmmmm - how envious can one get?
Happy birthday Harry!    jenny

Hello Everybody

Can't seem to post anything new either except by responding to the last post.

Just to call in and enquire if any news available since the 22/07/04 is a while back now.  The expedition seems to be in a critical phase at this stage judging by the project plan.

So, any updates?  I'm watching and waiting with great interest.

Regards
Dirk
