HIGHEST MOUNTAIN ON THE MOON!

Here is a wild idea!  Do you know if anyone has made plans to attempt to climb the highest mountain on the moon?  Now that it is possible for certain "elite" people to travel to the moon, someone has the chance to be the first person to climb the highest peak on the moon.  Just food for thought!  Wow...would that be an expensive climb!!!  It would make Vinson seem cheap!

Once again, just curious.

Sounds cool, do you have any idea which one it is? Probably some crater edge. Before MoT comes in I will say it: let's see who does this one without oxygen 


Did you know that until now just as many have stood on the moon's surface as people who climbed the '3 poles' on earth (SP, NP & Everest)?

Hmmm, how will they determine the height of a the mountains, as there is no sealevel!

Looks like the tallest mountain on the moon is as tall as Everest. Not much gravity to impede you though...

Check that, Mars has the record with Olympus Mons with a height at 27 km (16.2 miles) or over 85,000 feet.

Geometry dictates that if you're on Cayambe's summit you're as close to the 'heavenly bodies' as you can get while still standing on Earth."

Actually it would be Chimborazo with 6310m (20,702ft), only 1.5 degree south of the equator. And the question of being farthest away from the center (Chimbo) is different from 'being closest to a star, planet etc' as this depende on the position of the star relatively to the earth (how about the Northern Star!)  as well as the season as the sun is only right above the equator 2 days a year
