Hi folks,

Still finding partners ? I just went up last Dec via Machame. Initially, couldn't find any partners but finally just went thru' a adventure club & met similar kakis overthere.

One thing to note, their style of cooking is more of Western, lots of potatoes.. :o
Things really really worth bringing :Instant noodles, some dried stuff like (bak kwa) and powder isotonic drinks eg Pocari

hey all,

i am going in Dec 06, possibly the last 2 weeks or so. i will go via 7summits.com (i think the Force is strong in Harry....hehehehe.....i can sense it)

i will probably take will be the normal Machame route, and i will add 2 extra days for acclimatization. i dont mind the extra days, as i hope to make it to the summit on my first try. i will also fly in direct to Moshi, possibly via Amsterdam.

training as a group is tough, considering most people have a full time job. my own schedule is all over the place, and so i try to squeeze in here and there. anyone has a job offer that pays more, and require less time? ;D

you folks can train together if you could meet up, but i'll pass. trust me, its a lot harder training on my own, but its good for my mental strength.

at the moment, i go for endurance runs (20 mins, and increasing by 5 mins each month till i hit 50-60 mins) and work out in a gym 3 times a week and do stair climbing with a 12 kg pack. i hope to be in great shape for Kili by Dec 06.

btw, i love western food (potatoes in particular), though normally i'll will not take meat in the mountains, except for fish.....just a gastronomical preference.  8)

if anyone else wanna come along, you are more than welcomed....doesnt matter where you come from. we'll take it slow.....its a small world man......

I am looking for partners to climb Kili.  I will be doing a 7summits.com trip.  My tentative plan is for June 2007 and I definitely plan on summiting with a full moon.  JK...I hope we can work something out.
For me "the journey is the destination".  I am looking for scenic beauty, wildlife and the road less traveled.  I've narrowed it down to 3 routes: Machame, Lemosho/Machame or Lemosho/Breach.
Harry...I was wondering...when you say that the Machame route is arguably the most scenic route on the mountain, are you referring to the lower section or upper?  In other words, if I choose the Lemosho/Machame route, will it include the scenic part of the Machame route you are referring to?
Also, the pix that MoT took showed beautiful glaciers taken at sunrise.  Can I assume this was the Western Breach route?
