Does anyone have news of Ronnie Muhl from South Africa? A little while back it was reported that he had hurt his back and there has been little reported since then!

If anyone has news or could pass on best wishes from New Zealand, that would be appreciated

Hi Bruce
Ronnie is fine and has spoken to me via satellite phone recently. He recovered quickly from the back injury and is acclimatizing well. Will probably call me today (1st May)> probably on his way back down from 7000m camp for more acclimatization.

Hi Glenda...that is fantastic news! It's great to have some communication and news on where they are on the mouintain. If Ronnie has just come down from 7000 he must have been up to the North Col. You might mention to Ronnie that I am seriously contemplating a trek to North Col with his group next year; it would be great to get his latest news...does he have access to this forum? The best news from the mountain at present is coming from daily reports from the Nepal side from Fi and Paul...very interesting and informative...they report on EverestNews.com

Hi Bruce

I recommend that you check out Harry's web-site: Sight on Everest www.SightOnEverest.com
He is also reporting excellent news from the mountain (northeast ridge).

I have also been following Fiona and Paul's climb from the southeast ridge...fantastic updates.

Cheers

Bruce

I don't know if you've been listening to Lorenzo's blogs.  He mentioned Ronnie Muhl on today's blog (May 3rd).  Lorenzo and Ronnie are both on Harry and Alex's team; climbing from the NE ridge.  Here is the link to Lorenzo's site:   http://everest.open.ac.uk/index.php

Hi,

Ronnie turned around just below 8700m and is on his way home.

Cheers from SA

The second step I think. Quite technical from what Lorenzo was saying, so not fun in high winds when you're already knackered!
