You read my mind, smrtnupp, I was going to do the same thing.

Harry just called Romke.

"Harry just called to say that he, Thomas, Lincoln and three Sherpa's are about to start their summit push! They expect to leave within the next half hour. The weather is fantastic, the sky is clear and there is hardly any wind. I'm amazed by how well he sounded. He said all six can feel their health slowly deteriorating from being at 8300 meters, but unlike last year he sounded healthy, strong and ready for the ascent and determined to make a quick descent afterwards."

Good luck guys, may the weather gods continue to smile down upon you!

Well, they are on their way!

Right now they are climbing the steep steep face of the ridge, alternating using the ice axe and, scrambling on rocks using both their hands.  This could take as long as 4 hours, before they reach the flat top of the ridge.

This is the part of the whole climb where you realize how insane you are, doing this in the dark, little sleep, and extreme altitude.  After that is the 1st step (harder than advertised).

From Romke, here is Harry's location:

Great job, guys!

Very sad news.  I believe Thomas has passed away.  I am shocked.

Listen to Lorenzo's blog for more information.

Harry should be reporting information and let us know what happened. Family and friends will need to be notified of any news regarding Thomas. It might be a little while before we hear from Harry or Alex.

Yes, I was wondering why no news.  It is 2:00 pm right now over there.  I thought Harry would blog from the summit, but then I thought maybe his phone froze.  So I checked other sites.

I think we all felt like we knew Thomas, following him and Harry on their journey.

God works in mysterious ways.  My best goes out.  John

Let us pray the rest come down safely.  I am extremely worried.

Yes, though you may never meet them, you feel you know them.

I feel quite sick and upset.

The story is apparently unconfirmed. Lorenzo's posts have been taken off the blog. It is a small glimmer of hope, but yet, still something to hope for. Abu Dhabi is praying for the safe return of Thomas, Harry and the team. Our prayers go out to them. If anyone finds out ANYTHING that is confirmed, please post it.

God is great, and we pray that he brings our boys home safely.

Alex Abramov the leader of the russian expedition has just confirmed on his website the dire facts. Two climbers died today - Thomas is one of them. Harry seems to be safely back down to 7000m.

This is devastating news.  My heart goes out to all family and friends of these two brave climbers who were trying to live their dream.

I am relieved that Harry is O.K.  I can only imagine how he is feeling about all that has just transpired.  Absolutely devastating.  You are in my thoughts, Harry.  Get back down this mountain safely.  I am also thinking of Alex; as he deals with some of the burdens of this tragic situation.

Is there any OFFICIAL translation, as the whole website is in Russian. Please let me know. Thank you.

No, there is no translation as yet. But it should soon be posted here:

http://www.7summits-club.com/

I can translate here the main jist:
Apparently, Thomas, Harry and sherpas got stuck 50m (vertical) below the summit, because Thomas completely lost his sight and could not traverse the rocks at 8800m The team turned down at 9:30. At 12:20 Harry radioed from the second step that Thomas collapsed after saying "I am dead". He stopped breathing at 12:40....
