At a tragic time such as this, our prayers and thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of Thomas and Lincoln. They will be deeply missed. They were extremely brave men, who were tragically taken while doing what they loved.

God Rest Their Souls

Rest in Peace

We lost a good friend

Words cannot express the sadness all the friends and colleagues of Thomas here in Abu Dhabi are feeling right now. Thomas was a good friend and work colleague and we will miss him terribly. Our sympathies go out to his family and we pray that God will give them the strength to get through this. We would also like to extend our sympathies to the family and friends of Lincoln

Thomas we will never forget you, may you rest in peace.

God bless you

This is very sad news.  God bless Thomas and Lincoln.  May they Rest in Peace.

I am so thankful and happy that Harry is alive and well.  This must be hard on Harry, but he is strong.

Reading Alex's comments, they spent over 9 hours trying to bring Lincoln down off the mountain.  They did their best.

A terrible loss

I will remember my teammates Igor, Thomas and Lincoln for the rest of my days. My heart goes out to the families and friends. What a terrible day on the mountain. My heart goes out to Harry also, as I know that he and Thomas were close. Harry took care of Thomas many times during the expedition while he was sick, etc.

Thomas and Lincoln were really cool people.

Not hearing anything in hours is very unnerving.

How long does it normally take to climb down from 7000 M to Base Camp?

Normally, just about 1 hour, or 2 hours max, from 7000 to ABC (Advance Base Camp) which is 6400 meters.  I think they will stay there the night for sure.  That is where Alex has been.  ABC is very safe, and from there YAKs carry weight to Base Camp.  They can break down that camp in a day.

It is 10 in the morning, so Harry is probably in route now, or getting ready.

Last year, Harry and I were slow, as we both went from 8300 meters to ABC in a day, and we were both very dehydrated.  I am sure Sherpas are with him now.

This is really sad news ... I knew Lincoln as a climber and a writer and have been shocked to hear of his loss. He was a really good man - generous with his time, experience and always encouraging others to achieve their goals.

He is irreplacable.
