I'm showing SightOnEverest down
« on: May 26 2006, 19:04 »

I'm a friend of Harry's and brother in law (and friend) to Romke. Due to the unfolding events and urgency for news, Romke asked me last night (by phone) to help keep the SightOnEverest updated. Romke is in Prague and will not have internet for another day or so.

I'll do my best to get it back online asap. Meanwhile this forum should help keep people updated.

Thanks for your patience.

Just posted what I know.. also found a way to contact the host of www.SightOnEverest.com and am doing my best to have it back online shortly. I think the massive traffic knocked it out.

Ace-net (sightsoneverest host) just sent me an email that stated that due to excessive traffic on the blog page they have disable this and left the rest up...

This 7summits forum is probably the best place to keep checking, but I'm working with them to get the blog page back online.

I've been told by ace-net that they are 'updating software' and that the blog page will be up again today. Check back later.

Down again.. Just got word that the (shared) severs just cannot deal with the traffic. They have taken us down again. This could take a bit.. In the mean time I will be posting anything i hear on this forum. I do not anticipate hearing anything until Harry logs-in from base-camp tomorrow or Alex posts on 7summits club.. Lets hope we can deal with the traffic here. For the newcomers, be sure to check these sites as well. They have up to date info.

My brother Milan, camera man to the Kikstra crew, called his girlfriend "this afternoon" (CET), and reported that Harry and he were in ABC (6400 mtr). Apparently they are "busy with the events surrounding Lincoln Hall".

http://sightoneverest.com/ blog will not be going back online for the near future. The site was/is hosted on a shared server and the terms for hosting just did not take into account the amount of volume that hit it. The hosts were worried that we would crash the server, so it was not just a question of paying more to get the bandwidth. Getting it back online will require setting up a dedicated server which could take a week to migrate to.

For the time being I have redirected the blog link to this forum.

Thanks for your patience.
