HI everyone here is the latest from Noel and Lorenzo
All seems to be going to plan so far they have now crossed the border into India
the roads however have not improved quite the opposite....his bike is a little bruised to say the least  brakes etc not really functioning with  the dust and well his fellow drivers are just crazy ...on th e horn and the excelerator
I spoke to Noel today Fri 2nd June and they have now covered approx 700 miles
1100 k of the trip to sea level ..so half way,  yipee
  daytime temperatures are in the high 30s so they are starting at 5.00am then breaking and then restarting in the evening
Noel cannot transmit photos etc as the the sat phone is very poor in India
At the monent Noel is managing 100 miles per day so he is still on track for sea level next Friday ...I will  try and keep  you up to date ...tata for now

Here is the next insatllament ...
Noel has covered approx 1400k sor far
around 600k to go ...the major difficulty for him
is that the banks refuse to change US dollars so the old Rupees
are in short supply at the moment ...who would have thought ??

but he is good spirits and just wants to nail this cylcle
the town they are in is called Nawanda for all you buffs out there
and next few he will pass thru are  Asanol Bankura Medinpur  etc
until he arrives at Contai (sea level) then they will travel by jeep to
the refugee camp for( Lorenzos part of the trip )and stay two night s before the drive back to Kathmandu  and home to Ireland .Italy

Just a couple of days left now for Noel before he reaches the coast - managed around 200km yesterday. Then on to the refugee camp, which is Lorenzo's venture, then bung everything on the truck and back to Kathmandu for flights home. I think Lorenzo is going via the middle east to see his brother there.

You're right Chris!!

Lorenzo will come in Dubai for a couple of days... His Dubai's Sponsor wants to see him and this should be the plan: 18th June Kathmandu-Dubai 23 June Dubai-Nice and hometown! My mother is waiting for him and all of us are proud of him! Congratulation also to Giuseppe (Pino) that reached 6700mt!
I prefer sea level !!!

New messages from Lorenzo and Noel today. Unfortunately they are both cut off (Lorenzo still using the phone in sat mode despite them being way outside the Thuraya footprint - so its amazing its working at all) - just a Noel is about to same something witty about Lorenzo.

Hello All from sunny Belfast 27 degrees heat wave ...if only it was that good for the
boys pouring rain today Tuesday
I have spoken to both the guys today relaying their locations via Belfast
the phones are not working that well but when thay loose each other its the Big Girl
that gets the call ......hopefully Noel will have reached sea level tomorrow  10.30 am which will mean 17 days from summit (I will confirm ) this will be the
 first time by human power and will giveNoel a world record together with Aconcagua in 2005
The plan is then to dispose of his cycling shorts !!!! 17 days of wear and tear and travel back to Kathmandu after the visit with Lorenzo ..
I will update tomorrow night with all the info

I've not had any photos from Lorenzo since Kathmandu, so I certainly hope he's been taking some. I'm intrigued as to what kind of transport they managed to find.

Please let Lorenzo know that we are indeed still listening to this great adventure.  It is very fortunate that there have been no injuries or any malfunctions with Noel’s bike regarding tires, parts, etc.  I am sure the sea will be a beautiful sight for Lorenzo and especially for Noel.  Great job, guys!

It is very fortunate that there have been no injuries or any malfunctions with Noel’s bike regarding tires, parts, etc.

According to his latest GPS fix, Lorenzo is now 44m underwater, so maybe Noel's comments were a bit premature...

Well  everyone here it goes ...the mystery of Lorenzo injuries ..Noel told me that Lorenzo had stopped the jeep in the dark for a natural break Noel didnt put it exactly like that but on dismounting the vehicle he fell into a 5 foot hole and sustained grazes
to his shin bones ....he was writhing with pain !!! so there you have it ...all th eway to summit an dno injuries and then you fall taking a p**s sober !!!!!
On a happy note Noel reached the Bay of Bengal at 6.00am today GMT so the facts are as follows

Since leaving Summit Mt Everest on May 21st
Biked 310 k in Tibet
400k in Nepal
1100 k in India
so that equates to over 1800kms in less than 17 days
A world record for human power to sea level from summit MT Everest
he says and I qoute "Feeling good no injuries and no bike problems for the journey
I intend however putting my bike shorts in the bin "

the guys are now on the journey to refugee camp and then back to Kathmandu this weekend I will keep you posted

I'm sure after Lorenzo heals from his bruises, he will get a good laugh at his dismount!

CONGRATS TO NOEL!!!  A wonderful achievement!  (I think his cycling shorts will stand up on their own...maybe even walk away!!!)
