To be is to climb!

Hi Guys!

I will be joining the Summits of Canada expedition ( www.summitsofcanada.ca ) this May to climb the second highest peak in North America and highest in Canada, Mt Logan at 5959m. We will be doing this on skis possibly from the summit if all goes according to plan which it rarely does on Logan.

We will be joined by 13 8000m summiteer, Norbert Joos from Switzerland and the first 7 summiteer woman from Canada, Urszula Tokarska among the 14 expedition members.

We will have live video feed from the mountain directly into over 100 classrooms across Canada and we will take altitude measurements from the summit to confirm the altitude of 5959m.

So I will take a break from my own 7 summits project to climb Logan this year.

Hey Mike!

that will be a great trip! I wish I had time to join Cool
I wish you good luck and a safe and enjoyable climb and I will follow the climb, of course you or your friends can always post updates here.

Please gather a lot of beta about how close you can get with a bike, I might be in the area in 2008. (Corax, are you still in? Smiley

Best regards,

Harry

Hi Mike!

What a great adventure! It is awesome that your expedition will be able to provide live video to students across Canada! Also nice that you will have the opportunity to be part of an expedition that will take altitude measurements from the summit of Mt. Logan. How interesting! Good luck!

Cheers!

I actually checked around some about the biking-to-Logan plan, but it's looks grim. Also, I had an idea of reaching the peak by kayak, but all persons who know the area well says the plan is nothing but plain stupid.

If you're heading for Logan on skis, drop me a line. Then I'm in. I may be interested in flying in as well, but only if we have more targets in the area. Then there's a good reason to skip the walk in.

Good luck Mike.
