MC's MountEverest.net story
« on: Nov 2 2007, 10:35 »

MountEverest.net (Harry’s favorite publication ;) ) just published a story of my Kili climb and also my music (songwriting). I am actually honored that a news publication which covers world exploration and 8000m peaks wanted to publish a story on my meager climb of Kili and several songs I have written about Everest. Click here for the story.

Hi MC,

thanks for the note, congratulations with the airplay  8)
The song sounds nice, but cannot hear all the words clearly can you post the lyrics here?

For those that are curious: You can see and hear MC here:

Thanks, Harry

ps: Of course ME.net did not mention that MC climbed on a 7summits.com Kilimanjaro trip and that due to my personal friendship with the owner of Zara, they do all they can for my clients, especially when I tell them that many of these clients are my friends.
Guess that's no surprise as ME.net has turned from a reasonable respectable news source to a megalomaniac personal blog that appears to be written by a pissed off kid who lost his candy and blames the world.. ::)

Hey Harry

For the record, when MountEverest.net asked for my debrief, my e-mail said the following regarding ZARA. “Zainab Ansell, owner of Zara, (company I booked with through 7summits.com) heard about my plight and took me to the Springlands Hotel gift shop to buy supplies; sunscreen, mosquito spray, toothpaste, etc. Zainab footed the bill.”

Glad you liked my song! It’s a fun Pop/Rock song with a “hooky” melody on the chorus. The lyrics to MEMORIES are as follows:

Intro
Photos of my mind.
Moments of my time.                                .

Chorus
Memories here, memories there.
Drifting through time, floating on air.
Memories here, memories there.
Filling my mind, remembering when I dare.

Quick guitar riff

Verse 1
I'm going back. I'm going back.
Through time, I'm drifting in my mind.
I'm going back. I'm going back.
Good times flash by like neon signs.
I feel such calm. I feel such calm.
It's warm, I'm protected from the storm.
I feel such calm. I feel such calm.
I'm alone and it always leads me home.

Chorus

Quick guitar riff

Verse 2
I'm moving on. I'm moving on.
To a place even time can not erase.
I'm moving on. I'm moving on.
In this space, I'm surrounded with grace.
I'm coming home. I'm coming home.
I see my unfolding history.
I'm coming home. I'm coming home.
With ease, I return to memories.

Bridge
Memories; a summer breeze.
Whispers through silent trees.
Priceless; timeless.
Hold on to memories.

Chorus
Chorus
(repeat)

Thanks MC, great work.

Ah, and why does it not surprise me that ME.net leaves arbitrary bits of information out, especially when it is about people they do not like  ::)

Thanks for mentioning me in your email (I knew you would  8)), but it was to be expected that they would only publish parts they like, instead of the whole story, as we have seen many times before. That is simply called censorship and it a bad thing for a site that was once known as a trustworthy 'news'site.

It might have something to do with the God-complex that is apparently bothering them... see for example their "10 truths about Everest!" (their version of the 10 commandments, in which they managed to present statistics that proved themselves wrong and then boldly stating otherwise) as well as their crusade against Discovery (they managed to do a 'review' of the new show while admitting that they had not even seen it!) and Russel Brice, finishing with the '7 deadly sins!'. It would be funny if it were not such a sad loss for the climbing community.
