DANISH MOUNTAINEER MAKES WORLD RECORD ON SEVEN SUMMITS

PRESS RELEASE   16. JUNE 2008

A new world speed record has been set on the seven highest summits on the seven continents 5. june 2008 by the danish businessman and mountaineer Henrik Kristiansen.
Henrik Kristiansen has ascended the Seven Summits in 136 days and thereby beaten the current record set by the Irish climber Ian McKeever in 2007. The old record was 156 days so Henrik Kristiansen has climbed the seven summits almost 3 weeks faster (20 days).
5. of june 2008 at 11. pm Henrik Kristiansen reached the highest summit in North America, Denali 6194 m, after having climbed the other six (actually seven) highest summits on the seven continents in the previous five month including Everest which was ascended 25. may.
The record attempt began with an ascent of Mount Vinson in Antarctica on 21. of january 2008.
