Ronald Naar, the most accomplished Dutch mountaineer, died on Cho Oyu. Sad

He certainly had a very successful life when measured along that quote!

Yep, I was just preparing a large update to the statistics when I got the news.

Ronald was the first Dutch climber to have climbed the 7 summits (there are 5 since last week) as well as K@ and Narga Parbat. I only met him a few times, but he is the icon of Dutch Mountaineering.

He had done many great ascents and was a very good photographer and inspirational speaker. His strong character was both loved and hated by friends and enemies.
Strength to his family.
