Highest peak in each country

We all know about the seven summits and many people set it as life time goal.

How about climbing highest mountain in every country?
That would be quite a time and money consuming achievement. I don't even think anyone tried it.

What about all the countries that don't even have mountains. Going to 600 meteres would be sufficient for some countries.

just visiting every country in the world is a life goal, its way too expensive, maybe $50 mil. why dont you go complete the task then tell us how it went.

Well, the 7summits are probably more expensive than the other 200+ combined...
Problem is the definition of a country and to decide when a mountain is in a country: does it need to completely in the country? Or can it be on the border?
Quite a few people are actually working on similar lists, most well known is Junko Tabei (first woman on Everest, see her detail page here). This is her list sofar, over 30 countries, including most of the difficult ones (except K2!)

just try asking n. korea and iran and saudi arabia to come and visit to climb their highest peak. doubt you'd ever get a visa.

Visa is no problem for those and most other countries. Unless your president starts bombing the place ofcourse, than it might be harder

well still, just getting all the visas together would take years alone, and if there is problems in a country, it could mess up your whole schedule.

My friend Torbjørn Orkelbog is already on his way to try to achive this goal.  He climbed all countries in europe last summer.  He is climbing everest next year and then he have all 7 summits.  Of course the problem is all those countries at war, but who knows what will be the situation in 10-20-30 years - because this is of course a lifelong adventure...
