7summits.com's Harry Kikstra climbing Mt Everest & Chogolisa

In the summer of 2004 Amsterdam climber Harry Kikstra will leave the lowlands for two unique expeditions in the Himalayas . He will start by climbing 7665m high Chogolisa in Pakistan together with Amsterdam climber Marian Slot and a group of South African climbers. This technical mountain that is situated opposite K2 has not been climbed since 1987 and was never climbed by Dutch climbers nor by South Africans. Progress can be followed through the special website http://chogolisa.net

Immediately following this (with only one day in the Netherlands in between) Harry will join a unique Dutch 6-person expedition to Mount Everest with the summit using the Tibethan North East ridge as their goal. The mountain will be climbed in the cold and windy fall season; from this side this will be another first for the Netherlands .

Harry has already climbed 5 of the ‘7 summits’, the highest peaks on the seven continents. Mt Everest can become his 6th, leaving only Antarctica ’s Mt Vinson to be climbed to be entered in the very select list of 7summiteers.

He is owner and webmaster of the internationally well-known website www.7summits.com. On this site the official 7 summits statistics can be found as well as much information and possibilities to book expeditions.

This site, which will contain reports of the different climbs, inspired Dutch sculptor Ap Verheggen for his work Terra Incognita. Together they will create a new work of art: scale models of the 7 summits in bronze with the summit of the models being real stones from the actual summits of the mountains. The expeditions will be filmed and photographed, culminating in a unique multimedia worldwide art project.

For these expeditions and the resulting art we are open for financial partners, more information about sponsor opportunities as well as services in return like stock and advertising material, bannering, lectures etc can be obtained here:
