Title: Mythological summits?
Post by: 7000 on Feb 8 2004, 20:31
We all know the 7 summits... but what are the summits with the most mythological 'attractiveness'. From the 7 Everest, Carstensz and Kili obviously have it as well as Elbrus (mentioned in ancient greek texts already). Denali, Vinson and Aconc. perhaps not.

Apart from them though... Ararat? which else?

Aconcagua for sure (inca's); Ararat (Ark of Noah).
K2: no woman who climbed it is still alive (!).
Many peaks in the himalaya are sacred as well.
Rwenzori: the mountains of the moon

Um, how about:

Olympus?

Ararat?

Sinai?

Surely some of the Hawaiian volcanoes?

Mount Brandon and Croagh Patrick in Ireland (small religious saintly mountains)
