Title: new forum: the 7summits.log! Let us know when you climbed them!
Post by: 7summits on Feb 24 2004, 20:22
Hello all,
as you can see we just added this board where you can let us know about your summits!
If you have any stories, pictures or tips to share, just let us know.
Oh, and you can also link your summitday to the calendar if you like, a new feature of this board. Use the calendar button that will appear at the bottom of your post after posting, or you can post from the calendar using the link in the left menu.

For now we will only have one summitboard, but if many people add stories we will split them.

A few rules for this board:

- You must be registered to upload any pictures or to access the calendar. This is free and only takes a second, just click the link in the menu.
- You must have climbed the mountains! But, if you tried but did not summit, that's ok, we are also interested in stories about it not succeeding, others can learn from that
- Only post pictures/stories that are yours to post.
- you can also write down your story if you climbed a month or 25 years ago!

If you have a longer story to share, email them to info @ 7summits.com and we will add them to the main site under the separate mountains. See a nice Kilimanjaro example with loads of pictures here (http://7summits.com/kilimanjaro/tripreports-tb.php).

If you took a lot f pictures, you can upload them on the image section  (http://7summits.com/images)of the site (where they can be sent as ecards as well then) or you can email them as well and we will do it for you.

Good luck!
Thanks and keep climbing, writing and photographing!

my wife and I: Kili 2003, Elbrus 2004, Aconcagua and Kosciuszko 2005
many pictures and stories on our lonelyplanet website (it is currently the website of the month, but when it is not, just search for michelle and charlie)

I have a question, though-  My body does not seem to like altitude.  Even though we spent a lot of time up in the Andes before Aconcagua, I had this dry cough above say 5000 m, getting worse with the altitude.  So much so that on summit day even little effort brought on a lot of coughing.  Should I bag the hope of ever climbing over 7000 m?

Kilimanjaro - Nov 2004

Currently waiting for a sunny day in Talkeetna, Alaska, so that our team can fly onto the mountain. Hopefully in 3 weeks or so, I will add Denali to the list.

Duncan Chessell of Adelaide Australia has just climbed Vinson from sea level
If I am not mistaken it is the completion of the Seven Summits list.

Duncan Chessell and his team with other climbers are stranded at Patriot Hills because of plane troubles

Hi,

First post, Uber excited to be a part of such a great life goal.

Ok, here goes:

Kilimanjaro (Machame Route) 2002.
Aconcagua (Normal Route - DNS) 2004
Denali (West Butress) 2008

Charlie - I was diagnosed with Laryngitis a few days before leaving for Acon-agony which was further aggravated by the dry, dusty conditions, so much so that I didn't summit  :'( . Several others in the same group had coughing "issues".

Cheers

Wackb
