Title: Sleeping Bag Help
Post by: ILikeItWarm on Oct 9 2004, 19:35
I am 1.98 tall and want to purchase a sleeping bag to be used for mountian climbing. Temperature range: to -20-25 degrees celsius.

Since I am  so tall, I've found the North Face Goliath. However, I am also considering the Mountain Hardwear 3rd / 4th Dimension. I am not sure on the length of the last one though. Any tips on good sleeping bags for TALL people?

Thanks,

Warm

Must be at least 240cm in your case and with that temp range at least 1000gr of premium goose down.

There are some bags from Ajungilak that are cheap and hold down to -45 degrees celsius. They are between 210 and 235 cm inside so you will have a lot of space to dry clothes etc. However they are synthetic.. :(

I would go for a good down bag from TNF!

Do you have experience with the Polarguard sleeping bags from TNF? Bad? Hence sticking to down?

If the TNF bag states 1.98 max inside does it mean a 1.98 person could still fit in comfortably?

Thanks,

Only tried Solar Flare Endurance which is long and fits me very well. It's for people up to 198 cm which means that you fit nicely inside. At least I do with room to spare.

You wont fit in a TNF 198...

And stick to down for high altitude climbing..There is no match for premium goose down no matter how high tech a syntetic is

Thanks. That brings me back to my 2 original choices plus the Ajungilak. It sucks being tall sometimes!  haha
