24 year old Kami Sherpa who summited with the Peak Promotions expedition died while being evacuated down Everestís South Side. Yesterday, climbers helped assist Kami down from Camp II, 6450m, to Camp I, 6000m. After recruiting volunteers from EBC to come up with supplies, they proceeded to carry Kami, now unconscious, down through the icefall in the dark. On the way down he stopped breathing and was unresponsive to resuscitation efforts by his rescuers. He was pronounced dead at 7.45 pm.

Kami is the first climber to die while on the mountain this spring. He was climbing with Peak Promotions, who the ministry confirmed summited on May 22, at 1200 hrs local time. Also summiting on that team was John Edwin Baker (48 Yrs - UK), Ngima Tashi Sherpa (43 Yrs), Sirdar, Kami Sherpa (24 Yrs) and Da Chhamba Sherpa (36 Yrs)

Several others have died on Everest this spring, but all while still in base camp
