Flights around the summits
« on: Dec 1 2003, 07:26 »

This is the easy way out but my husband and I are not climbers.  We took a plane around Denali and a helicopter by Aconcagua (as close as we could get and not get in trouble).  Are there plane or helicopter tours with any of the other 5 summits?
It would be amazing to get that close to some of the other summits.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Thanks for any info.

Everest: Too high

Carstensz: Too many rules and permits so most likely not

Elbrus: Probably so

Kosciuszuko (not spelled right): Most likely

Kilimanjaro: I'd bet on it

Mt Vinson: I'd be hard but you could if you had the time and money

Good Question,

Everest: to high for a helicopter...has been done by balloone (very dangeres) and with plane is no problem

Carstenz: due to political reasons not likely.

Elbrus:  No problem at all...in fact people are flown in by heli to ski down (at least for a big part up)

Kili: No problem either i think.Dont know any airlines but must be not to hard to find if you want it.

(same for Kosciuszuke or whatever the name is)

Vinson: a question of money (and time) like trunl said.
