Earthquake in Pakistan(7.6)
« on: Oct 9 2005, 17:23 »

More then 20,000 have been killed by Saturday's huge earthquake, and it is feared the death toll could climb much further.
More than 42,000 people are believed to be injured,The death toll in Indian-administered Kashmir has risen to more than 550, after the bodies of 250 people were found in one town alone.
Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf has appealed for greater international help in the relief effort.
Large cargo helicopters, "the bigger... the better", are needed to help reach those in "far-flung and cut-off areas", as well as tents, blankets and medicines for the survivors, he said.

Life is brought down to the basics: if you are warm, regular, healthy, not thirsty or hungry, then you are not on a mountain... Climbing at altitude is like hitting your head against a brick wall it's great when you stop."

This is a terrible disaster in one of the most beautiful places on earth, with very friendly but poor people. The toll has risen to 30,000 already which might not be the final count  :_)

Let's hope the internation community helps eachother out again. Strength to anyone with friends and relatives in the struck area.
