1975, at the age of 16, Steve Bell started climbing on the cliffs of Devon, England, where he grew up. He soon progressed to the mountains, visiting the Alps in 1976, Alaska in 1980, and the Himalayas in 1981.
Since then he has enjoyed many Alpine seasons, including winter ascents of the North Faces of the Eiger and Matterhorn.

A memorable stint with the British Antarctic Survey in 1982-3 was followed by four years in the Royal Marines, during which time he climbed his first continental summit with a solo ascent of Kilimanjaro's Heim Glacier.

Bell co-founded the trekking company Himalayan Kingdoms in 1987, which spawned his specialist mountaineering company, Jagged Globe. The first Briton to guide clients up Everest, he completed his own Seven Summits in May 1997.

Himalayan Kingdoms was founded in 1987 by Steve Berry, John Knowles and Steve, and rapidly gained a name for high quality trekking expeditions to the Himalaya. After starting to offer climbing trips as well they became the first British company to lead expeditions to all of the Seven Continental Summits (1995), and to climb both the north and south sides of Everest (1996).

About Steve:
- Leadership/guiding qualifications: BMG (IFMGA)
- Mountaineering background: Worldwide since 1975
- Notable ascents/First ascents: Numerous Alpine grands courses, new routes in Alaska, about 30 first ascents in the UK.
- Leadership/instructional background: British Antarctic Survey, Royal Marines Officer. Steve was the first Briton to guide clients to the summit of an 8,000m peak (Broad Peak, 1991) and Everest (1993).

Jagged Globe Expeditions: All seven summits. Stok Kangri, Changtse, Himachal Pradesh, Broad Peak, Himalchuli West, Kangshung to Rongbuk, South Georgia Traverse, Antarctic Climber.
In 2002, Steve is leading a trip to Mount Logan (the second highest mountain in North America) and in 2003, Steve will be leading a 50 years commemorative Everest expedition.

Steve Bell lives in Sheffield with his wife Leora and their three children.
