Additional InfoDirector, Mountain ExperienceAMGA Certified Senior Alpine Mountain GuideJason Edwards started his guiding career in the 1970’s, and has since guided successful ascents of many mountains around the world. These peaks include Shishapangma (26,400' Tibet, in ’93), Mt. McKinley (8 expeditions with Rainier Mountaineering, Inc. since 1981), Mt. Rainier (260+ ascents, for RMI). He has also guided multiple expeditions to peaks in many other countries, including the Mexican Volcanoes, Bolivian peaks (several), Peru (including Alpamayo, Huascaran, and several others), Ecuador (many peaks), Argentina (Aconcagua), Africa (Kilimanjaro), and climbed peaks and walls in the United States, Canada and Nepal.Three of Jason's Himalayan expeditions were on Mt. Everest (North Col—’94 (Deputy Leader) & ’91 (Guide); both American Expeditions). In addition, Jason led the successful 1997 Canadian Everest Expedition (via the S Col) and placed both clients on the summit of Mt. Everest along with four of our Sherpa staff.Early on at age 13, Jason was drawn to the mountains after he read such books as "Banner in the Sky" and the 1963 National Geographic on the First American Ascent of Mt. Everest. The romance of learning to climb and trek is really something that he can relate to, and the excitement of guiding and climbing still captivates his interests. As a certified guide, Jason likes to focus on participant enjoyment and safety, which can be seen throughout the trips he organizes and leads. His degrees in education and business further help Mountain Experience strive for its goal – providing the best quality adventures possible.Rock climbing, ice climbing, hiking, skiing, and "working on the house" with his wife Jodie, round out Jason’s interest when around home, and keep him busy when not guiding in the mountains or planning future adventures. He also spends a lot of time keeping in touch with past participants from adventures he’s taken with them around the world.
