Additional InfoRobert Hoffman, Belmont, California, is the Everest Cleanup expedition leader.

In the fall of 1992, he organized and was a member of the successful Everest International Expedition.
In 1995, he led the successful Americans on Sagarmatha climb, in which, as in 1992, the team demonstrated the ability to recover used oxygen bottles from the South Col. 135 bottles were removed in 1995 and eventually delivered to the U.S.

A very experienced mountaineer, Bob has climbed around the world, including the Andes, Pamirs, Alps, Cascades Caucasus, Rockies, and was the first mountaineer to climb the highest mountain in the Arctic and Antarctic. He was also the Deputy Leader on a successful expedition to Cho Oyu in 1997.

Upon his success on Mount Everest in 1998, Bob is one of the special people who have completed ascents on the top of the highest point on each continent, known as the "7 summit challenge".

Bob is an airline manager in "real life."

In 2000 Expedition Leader Bob Hoffman attained his goal of carrying out the largest environmental cleanup of Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. Battling constant poor weather on the mountain in May, 2000, the team succeeded in removing 632 discarded oxygen bottles (dating back to the early 1950’s) and over 300 kg of trash from the high camps. Since climbers today are required to bring out what they take in, the 2000 expedition will remain the largest environmental cleanup of Everest…Past, Present or Future.
