Biography
Jordan Romero is an American mountaineer, born on 12 July 1996 in Redlands, California.
As a boy at Lucerne Valley Elementary School he passed a mural of the world's highest peaks. That mural, seen in the school hallway every day, set his ambition to climb them all.
Climbing career
Romero began his ascents with Kilimanjaro in July 2006. His father, Paul Romero, and his step-mother, Karen Lundgren, climbed with him on most of the peaks that followed.
On 22 May 2010 he reached the summit of Everest at age 13, climbing from the north side. He was accompanied by his father, his step-mother, and three Sherpa climbers: Ang Pasang Sherpa, Lama Dawa Sherpa and Lama Karma Sherpa. His ascent was reported at the time as the youngest of the mountain; current standings are on our leaderboards.
He completed his round of the 7 summits on Vinson Massif in December 2011.
Writing and later life
Romero co-wrote a memoir for young readers, "No Summit Out of Sight", with Linda LeBlanc. The book describes the climbs and the training behind them.
He studied environmental studies at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has continued to live in Salt Lake City, working in the outdoor industry and pursuing mountain biking, trail running and skiing.
