Additional Info“The best way forward in conserving the Himalayan environment and helping the people who live there is by improving the health, wealth and education of the ordinary villager of the Himalaya.” -- Doug Scott

Doug Scott was born in the UK, 1941; he started climbing at the age of 12, first mainly interested in rock and big wall climbing, followed by an enourmous amount of Hiamalayan ascents as well as amazing climbs around the world, always using new and different techniques, new routes of first ascents.

He climbed Everest via the SW face, being the first to do so (with Peter Boardman & Doug Haston). This was his only non-lightweight alpine ascent and the only time he used oxygen.

Married to the Indian climber Sharavati (Sharu) Prabhu.
