Just four years later, in 1993, she returned to Everest and became the first British woman to successfully reach the summit. She is the author of 'On Top of the World'. Her compelling account of climbing Mount Everest.

She has held various positions as a journalist and a writer, and has worked as a reporter and presenter on 'Enterprise South' for TVS and is a regular presenter on 'Tomorrow's World,' BBC Television's long running Science series.

Rebecca Stephens has many interests in addition to her passion for mountaineering, which include trekking, exploring and skiing. She is also a trustee for the Foundation of Sport and the Arts. Rebecca joined forces with polar expedition explorers Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Dr. Mike Stroud OBE on the gruelling Eco Challenge race across Canada. This included riding horses, swimming, climbing, canoeing, white-water rafting and mountain biking across different types of terrain.

She writes, broadcasts and lectures, drawing from her rich experiences and delivering inspirational talks to business audiences on how to achieve peak performance, both as an individual and as part of a team.
