The Ilaga route is closed due to the violence in the country; the only possibility for climbing Carstensz is to fly in and out the area by helicopter from Timika.

New route through Singa village, 19 days!

We have new dates and a new route to Carstensz!

these are the new 2003 dates and remaining places for our CP expeditions: hurry up as they fill up soon, and it is very hard or impossible to arrange new permits..

Note: The above departure dates are subject to change following the domestic / internal flight of Jakarta - Timika - Jakarta; However, we will finalize the departure date of the expeditions the latest one month before the expedition starts from the date of the departure that is mentioned.

As you can see above, the duration of the expedition to Carstensz Pyramid has now become longer (19 Days), this is happened because from the start from the year of 2002, we are no longer using the 12 Days program (using Zebra Wall - Timika - Zebra wall before approaching the base camp of Carstensz Pyramid; the other old trekking route through Ilaga is now completely forbidden by the government and the old mining route is forbidden by the Freeport mine).

We are now using new route called Singa Village (please find below the day to day program of this new route below) where there are enough helicopters available to reach Singa Village and return instead the old route where to reach Zebra wall we need a high altitude helicopter considering Zebra wall is located at 3,500M above sea level; so far there is only one helicopter available in Timika to fly the group in and out to Zebra wall; that one is quite often under maintenance; to avoid problems we have chosen for the other options because we don't want to be dependent on this one high altitude helicopter.

Meanwhile if we use Singa village, there are 3 helicopters available in Timika, and there's no need to use high altitude helicopter to reach Singa Village (2,000 M).

As a consequence, the program duration of this new route has become longer (19 days), but has the benefit of a better and more gradually acclimatization.

The price is currently $5000 including helicopter flights, but excluding the (inter)national plane tickets. See below for a full list of what's excluded and included.

DAY 01: ARRIVAL JAKARTA - HOTEL Upon your arrival in Jakarta you will be met and transferred to a 3 star hotel in Jakarta for your accommodation. Dinner on personal expenses (can be really cheap and good in the area)

DAY 02: JAKARTA - TIMIKA Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Timika, depart from Jakarta at 05.00 AM by Merpati MZ 762, arrive in Timika at 13.10 direct transfer to Serayu Hotel for your ccommodation stay (B,L,D).

DAY 03: TIMIKA - SINGA VILLAGE Morning after breakfast, depart by helicopter to Singa Village. Overnight in local villagers or in tent (B,L,D).

DAY 04 - 08: SINGA VILLAGE - BASE CAMP OF MT. CARSTENSZ 5 (Five) days trekking from Singa Village to Carstensz Pyramid Base Camp, meals provided and overnight in tents (B,L,D).

DAY 09 - 12: CLIMBING DAYS 4 (Four) days provided for climbing the summit of Mt. Carstensz Pyramid. Meals provided and overnight in tents (B,L,D).

DAY 13 - 17: RETURN FROM BASE CAMP - SINGA VILLAGE 5 (Five) days trekking back to Singa Village for Helicopter to Timika. Meals provided and overnight in tent (B,L,D).

DAY 18: SINGA VILLAGE - TIMIKA By Helicopter to Timika, overnight in Hotel Serayu Timika (B,L,D).

DAY 19: TIMIKA - JAKARTA - OUT Morning after breakfast, transfer to the airport of Timika for your flight to Jakarta depart at 10.45 AM and arrive in Jakarta at 15.05. Upon arrival at the airport of Jakarta, we transfer you to the International terminal for your flight return to your country. END OF SERVICE.

THE EXPEDITION COST: USD 5000/PERSON.
