Since 1 October 2026, Tanzania requires foreign visitors to purchase mandatory inbound travel insurance unless exempt, through NIC for mainland arrivals or ZIC for Zanzibar arrivals. This does not replace personal travel insurance, and Kilimanjaro climbers should ensure their personal policy covers high-altitude trekking and rescue/evacuation.
