Was sich auf 7summits.com im September 2026 geändert hat

30. Sept. 20262 min LesezeitWhat changed on 7summits.com, Teil 2

September was the month the finisher record grew fastest: 307 climbers joined it, most of them from a research sweep that had been checking several hundred candidate names since the summer. The guides, the Library and the gear pages grew alongside.

More than 700 finishers

With 157 additions the finisher record passed 700 people who have completed a list.

Finishers can now apply for a place on the record themselves, or claim the record that is already there, and send their proof through the site. The apply page explains what is needed.

The guides grew and moved

Every guide now lives at the peak's own address: the Aconcagua guide starts at /aconcagua and each chapter sits underneath it. Old guide addresses forward to the new ones.

Carstensz Pyramid got its Normal Route map from seven public recordings, and Mount Meru, Kilimanjaro's neighbor and a favorite warm-up climb, got route pages of its own.

Guide pages can now hold photo galleries with a proper viewer, and videos that only contact YouTube once you press play.

About 280 guide pages were revised in September, and 2 new ones were added. Every FAQ was rewritten, and 27 new FAQs joined the FAQ page.

A climbing glossary, in four languages

The new glossary explains climbing words where they appear. The first mention of a term in a guide is marked, and a tap shows what it means. The Dutch, Spanish and German versions of the site also got addresses in their own language, so a Dutch reader lands on /nl/bibliotheek for the Library.

Gear, trip reports and the Library

Each mountain now has a gear list on its Equipment chapter. In your own gear shed you tick off what you already have, and the rest becomes a shopping list for that mountain.

Trip reports arrived for members, with photos and a GPS track. We added a few legacy ones from the old site!

The Library is now shelved by peak and by genre, and every peak has its own reading list (try the Everest books). A book can also be placed inside any page, the way a picture is.

Pictures and news

847 images were added in September: 692 book covers and film posters, 77 photographs, 40 maps and screenshots, and 38 stills for videos.

News went weekly. 20 posts appeared in September, including the first "This week on the 7 summits" round-ups and stories such as Into thin air, 30 years later and The icefall doctors.

For the number nerds (like us)

319 pull requests were merged in September. The code grew from about 190,000 lines to about 369,000, and the automated tests from about 36,000 lines to 76,000, now in 582 test files.

At the end of September the Library held 847 books and 100 films, and the site carried 878 quotes and about 1,000 trivia questions.
