Bring US dollars in cash for tips, the visa if you get it on arrival, rental gear and small spending, and expect to use cards only in hotels, larger restaurants and a few shops. Cards are accepted in Moshi and Arusha but often with a surcharge of 5 to 15 per cent, and nothing on the mountain takes a card.
