Nepal's Mountaineering Association is drafting rules requiring prior high-altitude climbing experience before an Everest permit is granted, though the bill is unlikely to take effect before spring 2027. New permit fees are already in force this season: $15,000 for spring, $7,500 for autumn and $3,750 for winter and summer.
