Who is allowed to guide Carstensz Pyramid, and how do I know my company is using the right organiser?
Who is allowed to take me up Carstensz Pyramid?
Only a trekking organiser licensed by Lorentz National Park can take a climber from abroad up Carstensz Pyramid. The park's climbing procedure of September 2025 requires every foreign climber to use such an organiser, and a park circular of July 2026 requires the same licence of anyone who sells or guides the climb. Every climb must also be accompanied by certified mountain guides: two for a party of one to five climbers, four for six to nine.
