Catalan mountain runner Kilian Jornet, now 38, has described losing his memory during his second Everest summit in a week in May 2017, climbing above 8,000 metres without supplementary oxygen after roughly 30 hours without food. He linked the effect to hypoxia and said fatigue also distorts the ability to judge risk.
