De 7 summits zijn de hoogste bergen van elk van de zeven continenten. Er bestaan twee versies, door de manier waarop Oceanië wordt afgebakend. De Bass-lijst gebruikt Kosciuszko in Australië, de Messner-lijst gebruikt Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesië, een technisch zwaardere rotsklim.
