A study in Regional Environmental Change finds that climbers' urine, along with base camp fuel use and infrastructure, is accelerating melt on the Khumbu Glacier, with researchers estimating around 154 tons of melt from over 6,000 litres of urine per season. Base camp temperatures are reportedly rising at twice the rate of the surrounding glacier.
