Authorities overseeing Russia's Prielbrusye national park are considering raising the climbing fee for Mount Elbrus from 200 to 30,000 roubles per person. The proposal, tied to a wider overhaul of high-altitude route permits, aims to fund rescue and safety infrastructure after over 70 evacuations in the first half of 2025. No final decision has been made.
