Tent (with snow stakes where the ground is snow) on Elbrus
Also called: Private Base Camp tent, Snow stakes, Stakes for the tents, Storm-proof tents, Tent
What it is for
Your shelter on the mountain. A mountain tent has to stand up to strong wind and the weight of snow; on snow it is anchored with snow stakes instead of pegs.
What Elbrus asks for
Team equipment
In a hut (south route): none: you sleep in the huts or barrelsoptional
Camping: a four-season tent with snow stakes; your operator's, or your own if independent: only where camping is allowed
⚖Tents only where camping is provided for: the park's regulation forbids setting up tourist camps and lighting fires "outside the places specially set aside for them". Ask the park or the MChS unit in Terskol where that is before you pitch.
