Biografie
Len Forkas, of Reston, Virginia, founded Hopecam, a charity that connects children being treated for cancer with their classmates. He climbed his peaks for it, carrying the photos and stories of children in treatment. A first Everest attempt in 2023 ended at Camp 2 with high-altitude pulmonary edema and a helicopter evacuation. He returned in 2025 and reached the summit by the South Col on 21 May, in his mid-sixties, completing the highest peak of every continent on both lists, Kosciuszko and Carstensz Pyramid included. Press reports describe him as the fifth-oldest person to complete the 7 summits.
