Glacier glasses on Kilimanjaro

What it is for
Very dark sunglasses (category 4) with side protection, against the glare of sun on snow and ice. Without them you risk snow blindness within hours.
What Kilimanjaro asks for
Standard
Good wrap-around sunglasses with UV protection, category 3 or 4; a spare pair is optional. If you need glasses to see: prescription lenses, or spare glasses; contacts suffer in the dust
What to look for
- Lens category (0–4)
- How much light the lenses stop. Category 3 is ordinary sunglasses; category 4 is for glaciers and high altitude, and is too dark to drive in.
